More than 1,000 runners for the inaugural 3-kilometer run with a ‘bright’ twist called “RUNiag 2018” hit the Rizal Street, Laoag City today, February 2, in time for this year’s birthday of Ilocos Norte.
Ilocano youth who bagged either national or international awards in their respective field of skills and talents were given recognition by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte through the first ever Sirib Youth Awards held last night, February 2 in front of the Provincial Capitol.
Headlining the 53 listed awardees was Jesson Ramil Cid of the town of Dingras. Cid is the decathlete who bagged a gold medal in last year’s South East Asian Games in Myanmar.
The Ilocandia Photographic Society (TIPS), in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), launched “Gameng ti Ilocos Norte,” an exhibit featuring the finest inabel artworks and photographs of Ilocos Norte on February 1, 2014.
“Gameng ti Ilocos Norte” (Treasures of Ilocos Norte) is an effort to uphold Ilocano culture and heritage through the art of photography and the tradition of abel weaving in the province.
Gaining nation-wide attention for its potential to host rowing events, Paoay Lake is getting its own boat club which will be inaugurated this February 1, Saturday.
The upcoming official opening of the Paoay Boat Club will be witnessed by various international boat clubs and rowing authorities in the country: the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, the Manila Boat Club, representatives from the Philippine Rowing Association, the Ateneo Rowing Team and other delegates from Singapore and Australia.
