Fat Tuesday, which marks the last merriment among Catholics before the start of the Lent season, has been a tradition widely forgotten by many Filipinos except for the people of the heritage town of Paoay, Ilocos Norte, who have altogether upheld a localized version for centuries.
One hundred twenty outstanding young Ilocanos will be recognized by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte as this year’s Sirib Youth Awards is set to be held on February 14, 7PM, in front of the Provincial Capitol.
The Police Community Assistance and referral team or C.AR.T. was launched February 4 by Governor Imee Marcos with the Ilocos Norte Philippine National Police during their 24th foundation anniversary in Camp Valentin Juan, Laoag City. The Police C.AR.T. allows the deployment of Police Patrollers in areas of convergence, tourist destinations or crime prone areas where a strong police presence is needed.
