INYDO starts free review sessions for Civil Service Exam takers

Feb 28, 2018 ...

In line with their aim to equip Ilocano youth to be more job-ready and productive citizens, the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office (INYDO) started its free review sessions last February 24-25 for the upcoming Civil Service Examinations (CSE).

INYDO Executive Director Weenter Ventura shared that the purpose of free review sessions is to encourage youth in Ilocos Norte to work in government and assist in the delivery of public services.

"We know that there are a lot of complaints and rants about the government, so we encourage the people na sila mismo ang tumulong sa gobyerno o tumulong sa society," he added, "We, the youth, should not only be critics but we should also be active in finding or providing solutions to the problems in government."

Over a hundred exam-takers registered for the first review session, which is why INYDO set the review on weekends and is anticipating more students and even workers to join.

Local lecturers were invited, namely Ms. Marie Stella Gaspar, a trainer of the Pearson test of English and formerly a curator house guide at the Taoid Museum in Laoag City; Commissioner James Ceasar Ventura of the National Youth Commission (NYC); and Engr. Jonas Paul Dela Cruz, instructor of Mariano Marcos State University - College of Industrial Technology, who was also a regional topnotcher of the CSE in 2011.

The next sessions will be done this weekend, March 3-4, at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) building, Room 2, located at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium, Laoag City.

INYDO also eyes the administration of a mock test after the review sessions in order to assess if the examiners are ready to take the CSE.

"Sessions are 'totally free,'" assured Ventura. "Awan pulos bayadanda. No man siguro aggastoda, daydiay lang pleteda nga umay, ken no kayatda met agmerienda." (Wala silang babayaran. Kung gagastos man sila, sa pamasahe lang nila, at kung gusto nilang magmiryenda.)

Anyone who is at least 18 years of age; is a resident of Ilocos Norte; and has already applied for the CSE may register for the free review sessions. Walk-in applicants for the review session will also be accommodated, however applicants are highly recommended to register in advance.
